pMuni can be found in the Palm App catalog in the
Public Transit category under
Navigation.
Click Here on your Palm Pre or Palm Pixi to get pMuni now!
pMuni has two main screens:
- Favorites shows the upcoming arrival times for up to 20 route / direction / stop combinations that you have chosen.
- Lookup is where you specify route / direction / stop combinations in order to get current arrival estimates and to save as favorites.
You can navigate between the Favorites and Lookup screens via buttons on the bottom left of the screen.
If you have any saved favorites, the Favorites screen will be shown immediately upon launch of pMuni. This lets you see the Muni information that's relevant to you quickly and with no additional steps. If you have not set up any favorites, the Lookup screen will be displayed first.
In order to find a Muni route and stop, select Lookup. You will see a scrollable list of Muni routes. Tap your desired route to display the
Route Info Box. pMuni loads the details for the selected route into the Route Info Box. Once the route information is loaded, you can select your desired direction and stop.
Note: To dismiss the Route Info Box, simply flick it up towards the top of the screen.
- Direction: Muni routes have an inbound and an outbound direction. pMuni will select one of these by default; tap the Direction button to change the selection.
- Stop: To select your desired stop, press the Stop button. For the selected route and direction, pMuni presents the stops listed in the order of the route, so you will find the first stop at the start of the list and the last stop and the end of the list. Scroll the list to find your desired stop and tap to select it.
The list of stops has one special entry at the top: Find Closest. Tap Find Closest to use your phone's GPS capability to locate the closest stop for your selected route and direction.
Once you have selected your desired stop, pMuni will load the upcoming arrival estimates in the Route Info Box beneath the Direction and Stop buttons. The next arrival is displayed in large font on the left side (with minutes and seconds specified), while subsequent arrivals are displayed to the right in a smaller font (and rounded to the minute).
Alternate destinations: Sometimes an upcoming arrival for the selected direction will have a destination that is different than the destination specified in the direction title. pMuni denotes such cases using numeric footnotes. Most arrival estimates do not carry a footnote, which means they are headed to the selected direction destination.
Refreshing results: Tap the refresh button at the bottom right of the screen to update the arrival estimates for your selected route / direction / stop combination.
No results: Sometimes there will be no results available for your selected route / direction / stop combination. This is likely because the route is not in service at this time of day.
Saving favorites: Once you have selected a route / direction / stop combination, you can save it as a favorite. Simply tap the green
Add to Favorites button. The Route Info Box will slide away and the selected route / direction / stop combination will be added to the top of your favorites list.
pMuni will not add a route / direction / stop combination to your favorites if it is already one of your favorites.
pMuni has an upper limit of 20 favorites. If you have 20 favorites and add a new entry, the bottom favorite will be discarded.
