Using pBART
Choosing a BART station
To see real-time arrivals information for a BART station, you must first select your desired station. There are several ways to do this:
- Tap on the station list at the top of the pBART screen and select your desired station from the scrolling list.
- Tap on your desired station's name on the map display. You can drag the map to find your desired station.
- Tap on the "Nearby Stations" button and select your desired station from the scrolling list.
Upcoming Arrivals
pBART displays real-time arrivals information for the selected BART station in the Upcoming Arrivals display. The arrivals are grouped by the final destination of each train. Trains with final destinations in San Francisco or on the Peninsula are displayed on the left, and those with destinations in the East Bay are displayed on the right. To ensure you are seeing the most recent arrival information, validate the date stamp at the bottom of the station arrivals display.
Closing the Upcoming Arrivals display
To close the Upcoming Arrivals display, flick it up towards the top of the screen. If the list of train arrivals is so long that it scrolls, begin your flick outside the scrolling area, on the top or bottom of the Upcoming Arrivals display.
Closest Station
To determine the closest BART station, pBART uses your Palm phone's GPS to find your current location. By default, at launch pBART will select the closest BART station. You can also select "Find Closest" from the station list at the top of the pBART screen.
First Station Loaded
By default, at launch pBART will display arrival information for the closest BART station. You can choose to have pBART remember the last station you previously looked at and display that station first instead. You can change this setting on the Preferences screen.
Service Advisories
If any BART Service Advisories are in effect, pBART will show an exclamation point icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap this icon to read the details of the Service Advisories.
Nearby Stations
Tap the "Nearby Stations" button to see a list of stations near the currently selected station. By default, pBART shows stations within a 3 mile radius of the currently selected station, but you can reduce or increase the radius on the Preferences screen.
Street Map
Click the "Street Map" button to see a street map of the currently selected BART station.
Sounds
pBART provides audio feedback when you select a station (from the stations lists or from the map display) and when you flick away the Upcoming Arrivals display. You can disable these sounds on the Preferences screen if you would prefer pBart to operate silently.
Browse www.bart.gov
pBART provides direct links to the BART website. In the main menu, under "Visit BART Online", choose "Bart Website" for the regular BART site, or "BART Wireless Site" for the mobile-optimized version.
Offline Use
If your phone cannot acquire or loses its Internet connection, real-time arrivals information will not be displayed. pBART will attempt to re-establish the connection, and will resume normal functionality once it succeeds.
